This Open Afternoon gives you the opportunity to meet lecturers and students and learn about their work on the Classical world at Birkbeck.

Lecturers will talk about their research and its links with current concerns, including the current syllabus for Classical Civilisation A-Level. Topics will include debt, democracy and migration in ancient Greek history and archaeology and, on the Roman side, the philosopher Seneca’s relations with the emperor Nero.

There will also be a chance to learn more and ask questions about our different degrees and the experience of studying the Classical world at Birkbeck.

The event is open to those of all ages with an interest in the Greek and Roman worlds, including school pupils from year 10 upwards.
