Classics for All Ancient History GCSE Resources

Classics for All

Our ACE partners at the University of Warwick have been busy creating resources to support Ancient History in schools. Read an update here from Dr Paul Grigsby, Fellow in Outreach and Impact at the Warwick Classics Network.

At the beginning of March 2020, Classics for All announced the release of a suite of online resources for OCR Ancient History GCSE. Developed by a team of teachers and academics led by Peter Wright of Blackpool Sixth Form (teacher of the year at the Times Educational Supplement Further Education Awards 2015), these resources are free to use and include complete sourcebooks with key learning, knowledge organisers, lesson plans, assessments and other helpful resources for the classroom. These were designed not only to be useful to existing teachers of Ancient History, but also to be a ready-made resource for schools and teachers thinking of introducing Ancient History GCSE.

This is the first phase of an on-going project which Classics for All will be rolling out in this their tenth year. Major contributions to this project have come from Peter Wright of Blackpool Sixth Form, Anna McOmish of Aldridge School, Dr Maria Haley of the University of Leeds and Classics for All North, with additional content from Ben Windsor of HASLA, Kirsty Churchill of Cardinal Newman School, and Dr Paul Grigsby of the Warwick Classics Network, who has also created and designed the webpages where the resources can be currently accessed.

Going forward, these resources will be made available on Classics for All’s other hub websites. If you have any comments about these resources or feedback on how you are using these in your classroom, please leave feedback here or contact Dr Paul Grigsby [Paul.Grigsby@warwick.ac.uk].
